American Actor Tom Hanks Was Granted Honorary Greek Citizenship at the End of 2019

On December 27, 2019, President of Greece Prokopios Pavlopoulos sealed the official honorary naturalisation of the world-famous US actor Tom Hanks.

Hanks has always been known for his love of Greece and its people. The actor’s wife Rita Wilson is of Greek descent. The family traditionally spends their summer vacations in Greece. Their favourite retreat is a tiny, yet beautiful island of Antiparos.

Tom Hanks has been a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Church since 1988 when he married Rita.
