Argentina’s new program, established under Decree 524/2025, allows foreign investors to acquire Argentine citizenship without the need for a strict residency requirement. Applicants are expected to make a minimum investment of around $500,000 into approved sectors, such as technology, agribusiness, tourism, or renewable energy projects.
The program is designed to attract global capital while providing investors with a direct path to an Argentine passport. Unlike traditional naturalisation, which typically requires years of residency and court approval, the CBI route offers a faster, more predictable pathway.
Travel Freedom
An Argentine passport provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to roughly 170 countries, including the Schengen Area, Brazil, and several key South American and Asian markets. While it does not yet match the global reach of top EU passports, it provides strong regional mobility, making it particularly useful for investors with business interests in Latin America and emerging markets.
Family Inclusion
Although official details are still being finalised, the program is expected to cover spouses and dependent children, offering families the opportunity to benefit from the same travel and legal advantages as the primary applicant.
Other Considerations
- Dual citizenship is allowed.
- Physical relocation is not required, though investors must meet the investment conditions.
- The program is effectively non-relinquishable, as Argentine law does not provide a standard procedure for voluntarily renouncing citizenship.
The program is expected to launch in late 2026, and Astons will monitor its rollout to provide up-to-date guidance and support for prospective investors.
