Once again, Dominica topped the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Index Rating. In 2020, Professional Wealth Management (Financial Times Group) has assessed 14 citizenship programmes for their offerings and popularity.
The CBI Index gave Dominica's programme the highest in six categories/pillars, including the brand new ‘Family’ category. This is not at all surprising as the country has greatly extended its family provisions to include children over 18, as well as parents, grandparents and siblings – of the main applicants and their spouses. Dominica also reached the top marks in affordable investment, ease of processing, due diligence, product certainty and absence of mandatory residence requirements.
The study by Professional Wealth Management praised Dominica’s smooth and stable processing of applications during the difficult COVID-19 times. Remote document processing is no news to Dominicans. It’s a skill that the local authorities have gained and honed after the 2017 hurricane season and successfully extrapolated on the coronavirus situation.
To obtain Dominica's citizenship, the investor has to donate $100,000 to the Economic Diversification Fund or buy a pre-approved property at the minimum cost of $200,000. These properties include luxury hotels, resorts, villas and other holiday homes that may yield good returns in the growing real estate market of Dominica.
