The Pakistani authorities are planning to sign an agreement with Turkey allowing dual citizenship for nationals of the two countries. The statement was made in the course of a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmad Shah and Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul.
The Turkish ambassador suggested both countries should make an agreement to enable dual citizenship for Turkish and Pakistani citizens, respectively. The Interior Minister responded that the draft of this agreement was under review and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was familiar with the initiative.
Ijaz Ahmad Shah also encouraged mutual training programmes and upgrades to law enforcement equipment performed hand in hand with the Turkish counterparts.
Specifically, the Interior Minister supported the patrolling force initiative in cooperation with ICT Police building on the Dolphin force model implemented in Lahore.
