The Government of the United Arab Emirates decided to offer citizenship to selected individuals from foreign countries, including doctors, artists and investors. It’s a major shift in immigration rules of the UAE, focused on attracting talent to boost economic and cultural growth of the country.
Most of the UAE residents (80%) are foreigners, but until now they didn’t have an opportunity to become citizens. However, it’s not a regular Citizenship By Investment program as there is no regular application process. Individuals will be nominated for citizenship by various bodies and official organisations. Each category will have its own requirements. For example, investors will have to own a property in the UAE. it’s still unclear how the implementation will work as most of the details about the new citizenship route are still not published.
