Since its November 2018 launch, Moldova has granted its first citizenship by investment. As of 16th May, Deputy Director of the Public Services Agency (the CIP’s processing body), Iulia Petuhov, reported that there have been 23 applications by investor citizens so far.
However, the press statement lacked significant detail about the only person to have so far received citizenship through the program. Petuhov did reveal, however, that the applicant was a male and someone with an IT background who is looking to extend his business in Moldova.
Regarding the remaining applicants, Petuhov said that most had decided to apply for the program to take advantage of the benefits of the investment opportunities that Moldova’s economy has to offer.
