Cyprus To Open Borders for Russia and Great Britain in July
The government of Cyprus plans to lift travel restrictions for flights from Russia and Great Britain, according to Tourism Minister Savvas Perdios. While Perdios did not confirm exact dates, he says it may be in July.
Cyprus will open its borders for travellers from selected safe countries starting from 9th June. Travellers from these countries with a negative coronavirus test dated no later than three days before travel will be allowed to enter.
The list of safe countries includes Greece, Malta, Bulgaria, Norway, Austria, Finland, Slovenia, Hungary, Israel, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia and Lithuania. This list will expand at a later date.
Russia and Great Britain play critical parts in the Cyprus tourism industry, and both countries have been severely affected by Coronavirus. The United Kingdom leads Europe in the number of deaths connected to COVID-19, and Russia holds third place in the world in the number of total cases.
Due to well-timed restrictions, Cyprus has not suffered as extensively as other countries and remains one of the safest places in the world to spend this period of uncertainty. Starting from 1st June hotels and beaches will begin to open in Cyprus. Restaurants and shops have already resumed regular trading.
The government of Cyprus will assist its plans for economic revival through its Citizenship Through Investment Program.
