Coronavirus Update: The Long Awaited Home Office Vignette Concession
As the Coronavirus continues to impact lives around the world and the uncertainty grows, the Home Office have been slowly releasing guidance to assist those who are affected by the restrictions caused by the Coronavirus. Whilst the guidance has provided some welcomed information, it has also brought about more questions and confusion. One important issue that the Home Office had failed to address was that what happens when someone was issued a 30-day vignette visa giving them permission to enter the UK, but they have been unable to travel within this 30 day period due to travel restrictions.
However, we have some good news!
On 28 April 2020, the Home Office have finally addressed this concern. Many people will be happy to know that if you have been issued with a 30-day vignette visa endorsed in your passport and you have been unable to come to the UK within the specified 30 days, you can now request a replacement vignette visa which will have new validity dates. This will be done free of charge until the end of the year.
If this concession applies to you then you will need to contact the Coronavirus Immigration Help Centre on the details provided here. When you contact the Help Centre, please ensure that you provide the following details:
- Your full name;
- Your nationality;
- Your date of birth;
- Your GWF reference number; and
- Your vignette reference number.
You should also ensure that you put in the email subject heading ‘Replacement 30 day visa’. Once your local Visa Application Centre is reopened, you will be contacted by the Coronavirus Immigration Help Centre to arrange for a replacement vignette visa to be endorsed in your passport.
